Ukrainian President Zelensky stated in a video speech on the evening of March 23 that talks between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, were "very beneficial." He emphasized that the parties had an in-depth discussion on the "technical" issues of the ceasefire and called on all sides to continue to pressure Russia to achieve a "genuine" ceasefire.
Zelensky revealed that the Ukrainian delegation, comprised of military, diplomats, and energy officials, is engaged in a second round of talks with the U.S. delegation on the ceasefire issue. Ukrainian Defense Minister Umerov participated in the talks and reported to Zelensky on the day's progress. Zelensky stated, "The Ukrainian team's work is very constructive, and the dialogue with the American side is very beneficial. The Ukrainian delegation will continue to make efforts."
Zelensky emphasized that Russia is the only party delaying the conflict and called for more pressure on Russia to prevent it from ignoring diplomatic efforts for a ceasefire. He pointed out, "Whatever we discuss with our partners, we need to put pressure on Putin to order a genuine stop to the attacks."
The talks took place in the context of Ukraine and the United States seeking diplomatic breakthroughs in Saudi Arabia, further indicating efforts by all parties to promote a ceasefire and resolve the conflict.
