It is reported that the meeting between Putin and Wictor took place on the 25th at the Kremlin, lasting about three hours, discussing the possibility of directly resuming negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Subsequently, after meeting with leaders from the UK, France, and other countries, Zelensky reiterated on social media that Ukraine must achieve an unconditional ceasefire across land, sea, and air, and real lasting peace can only be ensured under a strong security guarantee mechanism.

French President Macron met with Zelensky in Rome on the same day and later posted to confirm that Zelensky expressed a clear willingness to cooperate with the U.S. and Europe to push forward the unconditional ceasefire and peace process.

However, while these peace signals were being issued, the situation on the Russia-Ukraine front remained tense. Peskov announced on the 26th that Russian Armed Forces had completed full control over Kursk Oblast, with Russian Chief of General Staff Gerasimov reporting to Putin on the achievements of the special military operation and stating that the Russian military had established a security zone in Sumy, Ukraine.

The Ukrainian side denied this. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces issued a statement saying that fighting in the Kursk region is still ongoing, with Ukrainian forces holding their positions and executing effective strikes against the Russian military, causing them some losses.
