Scam victims report online fraud globally only 7 out of 100 times. Per country, the percentage of scams being reported differs significantly from 3% up to 15% according to the Global State of Scams Report. Organizations where to report a scam also differ and in most cases is fragmented across multiple organizations, making it even harder for consumers to report scams.

Where to report fraud in ARGENTINA

Argentina has a good number of agencies fighting cyber crime. These include:

  • Asociación Argentina de Lucha Contra el Cibercrimen (Argentine Association for the Fight Against Cybercrime - AALCC): A non-profit working to eradicate computer crimes and crimes committed through the internet.
  • Unidad Fiscal Especializada en Ciberdelincuencia (Cybercrime Specialized Fiscal Unit - UFECI): A cyber crime fiscal unit under the office of Argentina’s Attorney General.
  • Defensa de las y los consumidores (National Directorate for Consumer Defense): An online reporting platform that directs consumers to the appropriate quarters where their complaints will be handled.
  • Dirección Nacional de Protección de Datos Personales (National Directorate for the Protection of Personal Data - DNPDP): Handles crimes related to data privacy or protection of personal data.
  • Dirección Nacional de Ciberseguridad (National Cybercrime Directorate): https://www.argentina.gob.ar/jefatura/innovacion-publica/ssetic/direccion-nacional-ciberseguridad: A unit of the country’s Federal Police with an online portal where citizens can report cyber crime incidents.

Where to report scams in AUSTRALIA

Cyber crimes in Australia can be reported to:

  • Australian Cyber Security Center (ACSC):  Australia’s national cybersecurity hotline and cyber crime reporting portal. 
  • eSafety Commissioner: An initiative of the Australian government for reporting online abuse. 
  • Scamwatch: A scam-reporting e-portal initiated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). 
  • Scamnet: An e-portal created and managed by the government of Western Australia. It provides an avenue for citizens/consumers to get insight on cyber crimes, report scams and other cyber crimes, as well as have the matter channeled to the appropriate authority all via the portal.

How to report online fraud in AUSTRIA

At the federal level, there exists the:

  • Cyber Crime Competence Center (C4) - For specialized cyber crime assistance and digital forensic investigations. The center can be contacted directly via email through against-cybercrime@bmi.gv.at
  • Bundeskriminalamt - Bundesministerium für Inneres (Federal Criminal Police Office at the Federal Ministry of the Interior) 

The Austrian Institute for Applied Telecommunication (OIAT) also offers a Trust Seal for reliable online stores, maintains saferinternet.at with tips and tricks on how to use the internet safely, runs Watchlist Internet with a manually vetted list of malicious/dubious websites and Fake-Shop Detector, a browser extension that checks sites’ legitimacy using artificial intelligence.

Where to report scams in BANGLADESH

The country has a number of cyber crime reporting and processing platforms that include: 

  • The Police Cyber Center, Criminal Investigation Department, Bangladesh Police - Responsible for cyber crime safety and crime response. Apart from their hotline and email address as detailed on the site, the Center also provides support via their Facebook Page. This is one of their most popular channels as it receives a lot of engagement from consumers.
  • Police Cyber Support for Women - They aid in taking legal action for cyber crimes committed against women. The contact email, phone number and Facebook Page are on the website.

Where to report scams in BELGIUM

Belgian authorities have various channels through which individual consumers can report cyber scams/crimes, as well as get support for the same.

  • The Center for Cybersecurity Belgium: this is the country’s official cybersecurity outfit. The center has the SafeonWeb initiative which helps consumers prevent and fight online scams. Users can also report phishing emails to suspicious@safeonweb.be.
  • Report Belgium: Another scam reporting platform that forwards consumers’ complaints to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
  • Belgian consumers can also report cyber crimes to the local police and also to the Police on Web - a central cyber crime reporting platform for Police nationwide. 

 

How to report fraud in BRAZIL

The Policia Federal is responsible for preventing and responding to cyber crimes through its Unit for Combating Cybercrime - URCC. Other agencies involved in the fight against cyber crimes and scams in Brazil are:

  • The Departamento de Segurança de Informações e Comunicações: The country's Department of Information and Communications Security - CTIR Gov.
  • Ingarape Institute: A non-profit think tank for digital security.
  • Posso Confiar: A platform that lets consumers check a website’s credibility before accessing the said site.
  • Reclame Aqui: A platform that lets consumers rate companies/organizations based on prior dealings.
  • consumidor.gov.br: A government-owned/managed portal for receiving consumer complaints about businesses.
  • CERT.br: The Center for Studies, Response and Treatment (CERT) of digital security incidents.

 

Where to report scams in CANADA

There are a number of ways/channels through which cyber crimes can be reported in Canada:

  • The Canadian Center for Cyber Security is the Canadian government’s central authority on cyber security.
  • Online scams can be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center (CAFC), managed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Competition Bureau Canada, and the Ontario Provincial Police. They offer users the option to report either by phone or through an online platform.
  • The Royal Canadian Mounted Police also has a reporting portal on their website.
  • The Canadian Internet Registry Authority (CIRA) fights scams by offering a free DNS service to protect consumers from malware and phishing, a firewall solution for companies and cybersecurity awareness training for companies.
  • Consumer Protection Ontario helps consumers spot common consumer or financial scams, and how to report them, as well as help if one has been scammed.

How to report fraud in CHILE

Cyber crimes in Chile can be reported to the country 's Equipo de Respuestas ante Incidentes de Seguridad Informática (Computer Security Incident Response Team - CSIRT). 

 

Where to report fraud in CHINA

The three (3) primary agencies responsible for cyber crime reporting and investigation are the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Ministry of Public Security (MPS) through the Cyber Police, and the Industry Society of China (ISC).

Other agencies and platforms are:

  • The National Internet Information Office manages an Illegal Information Reporting Center through which companies and consumers can report incidents online and by phone.
  • National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT/CC).
  • Guanjia and the Black Cat platform: Both are websites through which consumers can report fraudulent websites.

Cyber crimes in Chile can be reported to the country's Centro Cibernético Policial (Colombian Police Cyber Center) via their online reporting portal.


Where to report scams in CZECH REPUBLIC

Cyber crimes in Chile can be reported to the:

  • Policie Česke Republicky - The Police of the Czech Republic
  • Czech Národní Úřad pro Kybernetickou a informační Bezpečnost (National Cyber and Information Security Agency - NÚKIB) oversees the country’s CERT and manages an online reporting portal where consumers can tender complaints about cyber crimes and scams.

How to report scams in DENMARK

Cyber crimes in Chile can be reported to the Politi (National Police) via their website.

Consumers can report scams in Egypt at the headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Interior.

 

How to report fraud in FINLAND

Consumers can report cyber crimes to:

  • Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority
  • Finnish Financial Supervision Authority
  • Finnish European Consumer Center
  • The Police of Finland

Where to report scams in FRANCE

French consumers can report fraud through any of the following channels:

  • Actions Against Cyber Malveillance (ACYMA)
  • The Ministry of Interior through their portal - Internet Signalement
  • The Ministry of Economy and Finance through their portal - SignalConso

How to report fraud in GERMANY

In Germany, the organizations responsible for receiving complaints about and investigating cyber crimes are:

  • Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (German Federal Office for Information Security - BSI)
  • Internet Wache - State Internet-Watch Service
  • Verbraucherszentrale - State Consumer Protection Centers
  • The Zentrale Ansprechstelle Cybercrime (The Central Contact Point for Cybercrime - ZAC) under the authority of the Bundeskriminalamt (The Federal Criminal Police Office - BKA)
  • verbraucherschutz.com - A private consumer protection service

The Indian Government set up the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal to ensure cyber crimes were properly reported and processed.


How to report fraud in INDONESIA

Cyber crimes in Indonesia are reported to the Indonesian Cyber Police, a team under the Bareskrim Polri (Indonesian Criminal Investigation Agency).


How to report scams in IRAN

Iranians can report cyber crimes to the Cyber Police of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 


How to report scams in IRELAND

Cyber crime reporting and investigation in Ireland  is handled by the following organizations:

  • Ireland Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT-IE), domiciled within the National Cyber Security Center
  • An Garda Síochána - Ireland’s National Police and Security Service.

How to report scams in ISRAEL

Cyber crimes in Israel are reported to the Israel National Cyber Event Readiness Team (CERT-IL). This can be via the 119 hotline, an email, or a phone call.

Cyber crimes in Italy are reported to the Italian Police and also to the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT-Italia).


How to report scams in JAPAN

Japanese consumers can report cyber crimes at the local police stations, and scams to the Japan Anti Fraud Organization. 

How to report fraud MALAYSIA

Malaysians can report cyber crime and fraud incidents to:

  • Malaysian Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT).
  • The Commercial Crime Investigation Department of the Royal Malaysia Police.
  • To combat Macau scams, the CCID also launched the Semak Mule site for the public to verify accounts that could potentially be used by scammers.


How to report scams in MEXICO

Mexicans can report scams and cyber crimes to the following organizations:

  • The Cyber Prevention and Investigation Unit of the Guardia Nacional (The Mexican National Guard).
  • ProcuriadurÍa Federal del Consumidor (Office of the Federal Prosecutor for the Consumer - PROFECO) - The national consumer protection authority.

Nigerians report cyber and financial crimes to:

  • The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
  • Nigerian Computer Emergency Response Team (ng-CERT)
  • CyberSafe Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides a cyber crime reporting portal on their NoGoFallMaga platform.

Norwegian cyber crimes are reported to the:

  • Politiet (The Norwegian Police)
  • Norwegian Computer Emergency Response Team (NorCERT)


Where to report scams in PAKISTAN

Pakistani consumers can report cyber crimes and other related offenses to:

  • The Pakistan Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)
  • The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

 

How to report fraud in PERU

Peruvian cyber crimes are reported to:

  • The Peru Digital Security Incident Response Team (PeCERT) - An office under La Secretaría de Gobierno Digital (The Secretariat of Digital Government - SeGDi).
  • The Policia Nacional del Peru (National Police of Peru) through their High Technology Crime Investigation Division. 


Where to report scams in PHILIPPINES

Cyber crimes in the country can be reported to the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG). 


Where to report fraud in POLAND

Polish cyber crime reports are handled by:

  • Poland Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-Polska).
  • Wydział Wsparcia Zwalczania Cyberprzestępczości Biura Służby Kryminalnej Komendy Głównej Policji (Police National Police Department of Support in Fighting Cybercrimes.
  • The Computer Security Incident Response Team of the Ministry of Defense (CSIRT-MON).
  • The NASK (Research and Academic Computer Network) contact point for reporting illegal content - dyzurnet.pl.  


How to report fraud in PORTUGAL

Portuguese citizens can report scams online on the websites of the:

  • Polícia Judiciária (Portuguese Criminal Police)
  • Public Prosecution Service and its Cybercrime Office
  • The Portugal Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT.PT), which is domiciled in the Centro Nacional de Cibersegurança (CNCS) Portugal.


Where to report scams in ROMANIA

Romanian cyber crimes are reported to:

  • The Politia Romana (Romanian Police)
  • The Romanian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-RO) by sending an email to alerts@cert.ro.

Russian citizens can report cyber crimes to:

  • The Russian Computer Security Incident Response Team (RU-CERT).
  • The National Computer Incident Response and Coordination Team (NCIRCC).
  • ROCIT - A public organization uniting active Internet users in Russia. One of its services is a hotline where Russians can report fraud, low-quality Internet services, unscrupulous online stores, hacked accounts, etc.
  • Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare) -  Where consumers can report online fraud.


How to report scams in SAUDI ARABIA

Saudi organizations involved in cyber crime reporting are:

  • The Saudi Federation for Cyber Security and Programming (SAFCSP)
  • Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) allows consumers to file a complaint related to a financial service including forex and investment scams.
  • Phone and SMS scam attempts can be reported to the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) both online and by phone (330330).
  • The Consumer Protection Association launched a website (scam.sa) in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and with tools to report commercial-related scams and fraud via text message.
  • Saudi Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-SA) - For reporting vulnerabilities in computing and information systems. 


Where to report fraud in SINGAPORE

Cyber crimes reporting in Singapore is handled by:

  • The Singapore Police Force Anti-Scam Center (ASC)
  • The National Crime Protection Council (NCPC) though any of its initiatives -

(ii)  ScamShield - Also has an accompanying iOS app

  • Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team (SingCERT)
  • The Government IT Security Incident Response (GITSIR) Team - A unit domiciled  within the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech).


How to report scams in SOUTH AFRICA

Report South African cyber crimes to:

  • The Cybersecurity Hub - South Africa’s National Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT)
  • The South African Police Service Electronic Crime Unit (SAPS-ECU)
  • The South African Banking Risk Information Center (SABRIC) - a non-profit organization formed by the four major banks to combat organized bank-related crimes.
  • The Financial Intelligence Center (FIC) - Consumers can check the registration of financial companies on FIC's website as well as report suspicious activities.
  • South African Fraud Prevention Service (SAFPS) - an NGO that aims to improve cyber vigilance.


Where to report fraud in SOUTH KOREA

Report all South Korean cyber crimes to:

  • The Electronic Crime and Report Management System managed by the Korean National Police Agency (KNP).
  • The Cheat - an online platform where fraud victims can share scam information. 


Where to report fraud in SPAIN

Report cyber crimes in Spain to:

  • The Cybercrime Central Unit of the Spanish Guardia Civil.
  • Information Security Incident Response Team (CCN-CERT) of the National Cryptologic Center (CCN), under the Spanish National Intelligence Center (CNI).
  • The Policia Nacional (National Police)
  • Instituto Nacional de Ciberseguridad (INCIBE) via the Institute's Computer Emergency Response Team (INCIBE-CERT) Platform.


How to report scams in SWEDEN

Online fraud can be reported to the Swedish Police at their offices or online. Cyber crime and fraud incidents can also be reported to the Sweden Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-SE) by following these instructions.

 

Where to report fraud in SWITZERLAND

Swiss consumers can report cyber crimes to any of the following agencies:

  • The Nationale Zentrum für Cybersicherheit (National Cyber Security Center - NCSC)
  • GovCERT.ch - The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) of the Swiss Government.
  • The Cyber Crime Police
  • The Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) also has a list of all recognized anti-cybercrime services in the country.


How to report scams in TAIWAN

Consumers can report scams to the Taiwan Police Agency. This can be done via the local police office or using the 165 anti-fraud hotline.

Cyber crimes in Thailand are reported to:

  • ThaiCERT - Thailand’s Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT).

How to report fraud in the UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority has an official UAE cyber crime report list published on their website.


How to report fraud in the UNITED KINGDOM

The following agencies are in charge of cyber crime reporting in the UK{:

  • Action Fraud - The UK's national reporting center for fraud and cybercrime.
  • CrimeStoppers - For anonymous crime reporting
  • The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) - Primarily for organizations. The Consumers can also submit suspected phishing emails to the NCSC’s Suspicious Email Reporting Service (SERS).
  • The Police police by calling 101.


Where to report scams in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Cyber crime reporting in the US can be done through:

  • The FBI Local Offices
  • The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)
  • The Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
  • The National Computer Emergency Response Team (US-CERT). Reporting can also be via the hotline (1-888-282-0870), while phishing attempts can be directed to phishing-report@us-cert.gov.
  • The Better Business Bureau.


Where to report fraud in VIETNAM

Vietnamese consumers can report cases of cyber fraud and related crimes to:

  • The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC).
  • The Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT).
