Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently made fiery comments on the social platform Truth Social, stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin's actions regarding the Ukraine issue are "completely crazy." He also mentioned considering a new round of sanctions against Russia. Additionally, he unusually criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly.
"He's (Putin) got problems, completely crazy!" Trump candidly declared in his post. He also expressed dissatisfaction with Ukrainian leader Zelensky, claiming that his "way of speaking hasn't been helpful," adding further: "Every word he says is causing problems. I don't like it; he'd better stop."
Trump's remarks sparked widespread attention and controversy. Many view his statement as potentially signaling a repositioning of his foreign policy amidst the ongoing U.S.-Russia tensions.
In response to Trump's remarks calling Putin "crazy," the Kremlin replied. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, in a media interview, stated that the Kremlin appreciates efforts towards peace, including those by Trump, but emphasized that in the currently highly tense situation, some political figures might experience "emotional overload" or "emotional reactions."
"This is a critical moment, and emotions are inevitably affected," Peskov noted, without directly addressing Trump's specific accusations against Putin.
Analysts point out that by criticizing the leaders of both Russia and Ukraine, Trump may aim to highlight his image as a neutral peace mediator in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, while also seeking stronger influence in U.S. domestic politics.
Currently, the U.S. government has not formally responded to Trump's remarks, and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, with the situation requiring close monitoring.
